SMALL TOWN REJECTS is a not-for-profit ONLINE literary journal based in Bathurst, NSW on the lands of the Wiradjuri peoples.

Our main goal at STR is to provide a platform for unpublished and under-represented writers. We are particularly interested in writing from Indigenous people, POC, trans, female/femme identifying, non-binary, working class and writers from rural and regional Australia. That's not to say we don't want to hear from other voices as well, just that this is our focus.

We understand the difficulty in getting published for emerging writers and want to address this issue. As emerging writers ourselves, we know seeing rejection letters pile up often deters writers from continuing their craft.

Our logo includes the Silver-Leaved Mountain Gum, a native of the Blue Mountains/Bathurst region. It is an unusual plant that retains juvenile foliage into adulthood. Take that how you will :)

We hope you'll enjoy your stay with us!
